Scoring

Titles awarded on a rating enabled shows yield points.
Points scored on a show are multiplied by a that show's category multiplier.
Points are accumulated throughout the astronomical year.
At the beginning of each year, previous year's results are tallied, and the leaderboard with best cats, breeders and catteries are nominated.

Only cats with verified and fully completed (photo is required) TopCat profile may appear on the leaderboard. The verification request must be applied before December 31 of current rating year. Only requests submitted through Top Cat app or web interface are rating-enabled, otherwise we do not have person's concern and may not process their data, including their cats' score calculation.

Scoring rules do not change throughout the rating year.

The exhibition report (all protocols) must be uploaded within 10 days of the exhibition in the designated place.

Corrections to show results may only be accepted during 2-month period after the last show day, but not after January 15th of the next rating year.

If proofs of tampering with rating algorithms surface, the show in question may receive a point multiplier of 0.
Evidence will be reviewed on a per-case basis. Guilty will be sanctioned.

It is imperative that show protocols are uploaded at manager's interface dedicated section.

Only participants with 300 or more points are ranked.

Best in Show

Points from Best in Show awards are multiplied by show category multiplier, explained in table 1.

Only cats to receive an expert evaluation in any show day are considered participants. Participation in breed shows and rings does not count.

Table 1 - Participant number and show category:

Category Description Multiplier
Category I 49-80 participants 0,5
Category II 81-150 participants 1
Category III 151-300 participants 2
Category IV 301 participants or more 3
Category V 550 participants or more 4

Please note!

Points earned at TopCat National Finals are multiplied by 2.

Points earned at TopCat International Finals are multiplied by 3.

Please, note
that the procedure for holding Best in Show is determined and monitored by show organizers (including the number of hair groups)!

  1. Litter category
    One best litter is chosen in Litter show class. (age: 10-12 weeks).
    - Best Litter = 50 points
    - Best Litter I = 50
    - Best Litter II = 40 points
  2. Kitten, Junior, Neuter, Veteran category.
    Titles at Best in Show in the following categories:
    - Kitten (3-6 months)
    - Kitten/Junior (6-10 months)
    - Neuter-Kitten (3-6 months)
    - Neuter Kitten/Junior (6-10 months)
    - Neuter (10+ months)
    - Veteran (8+ years)
    - House Hold Pet (HHP class)

    Best male and female cat are chosen among those nominated for BIS, they are then compared and the winner receives a place in Best in Show, and a title of Best 1, 2 ... 5 and so on; The other receives their appropriate Best Opposite Sex award. Two versions of BIS placements exist, and show host may opt for an alternative one if there are enough participants.

    The category includes following classes:
    - Kitten (3-6 months)
    - Kitten-Junior (6-10 months)
    - Neuter (10+ months)
    - Veteran (8+ years)
    Award and point rules for this category are explained in the following chart.

    • Kitten (3-6), Kitten (6-10)/Junior
    • Neuter
    • Veteran

    • Household Pet

  3. Adult Category

Please, note
that that the Best in Show procedure is determined and monitored by show organizers (including the number of hair groups)!

Adult cats are divided into the following hair groups within Best in Show:
-LH (longhair)
-SLH (semi-longhair)
-SH (shorthair)
-SIA/ORI (siamese oriental shorthair)
-HL (hairless)

If there are less than 15 participants in a main category (LH, SLH, SH, SIA/ORI), the categories are merged in the following manner:
- LH and SLH
- SOSH and SH
- HL and SIA/ORI

If a monobreed show is held on an exhibition, and there are more than 15 pets of that breed, this group may be presented in BiS as a separate category (this should be negotiated with licensing responsible organisation).

As such, more than standard 5 hair groups may take part in Best in Show, and if so: cats are given places (e.g. I, II, III, ... VII etc) and opposite sex are awarded a title in their group.

Best Supreme and Best General winners may be selected on a show.

  • Show hosts choose whether or not to have Best Supreme and Best general award at a given show, this is not obligatory;
  • If show hosts choose to have these awards at the show - participants should be notified beforehand.
  • Winners and given awards should be recorded and documented during the show.

Best General

  • Best General competition is held at the end of the show day, following groups may compete:
    1. Winners from all day's rings and shows
    2. Best in Show categories:
      1. Young (Baby, Kitten, Junior)
      2. Adult
      3. Neuter (Neuter, Kitten-Neuter, Junior-Neuter)
  • Experts vote and choose the winner among the competitors, and is given 50 points.

Best General award yields a fixed amount of points, category multiplier does not apply.

Best Supreme

  • Best Supreme competition is held at the end of the show;
  • This show's Best General winners compete for the Best Supreme title.
  • Experts vote and choose the winner among the competitors;
  • Best Supreme title may not be awarded on a single day exhibition. (Exception is the case of 2 shows (each with a dedicated license) are held on the same day.)

Best Supreme award yields a fixed amount of points, category multiplier does not apply.

Best General and Best Supreme protocols are to be uploaded in the Documents section.

Please note: General and Supreme titles earned on non-TopCat shows are disregarded.

Fun-Show

A distinction should be drawn between WCF and TopCat definitions of Fun Show:

At TopCat we treat Fun Shows as legitimate competitions, where a Top-10 is formed based on a sum of breed-relevant qualities. Selection based on a single, let alone irrelevant aspect, such as tail length, facial expression, charisma, playfulness and the like is by definition subjective and unfair, and to stop it affecting genuine scores we reserve the right to subsequently remove such competition from show data.

1. A participant may only join Fun shows after having received their judgement. Advertisement class participants and those who do not receive a judgement on this show day may not join a Fun Show.

2. Fun Show should be named in accordance with grouping factor of it's participants.

Fun Shows must be selected according to breed characteristics (no more than 2 per show):
  • coat colouration;
  • coat pattern (1 attribute)
  • breed / breeds;
  • hair length / type;
  • eye colour (1 attribute);
  • sex (1 attribute)
  • breed origin (1 attribute);
  • "Exotic breed" - no more than 4 specimen present on exhibition;
  • "Club cup" - only cats with correlating club in their profile may apply. A club may only host one Club cup per year. A cat may only participate in one Club cup per year.
  • All other options must be agreed in advance with technical support: support@top-cat.org.

"State / region top / city cup" Fun Shows are not permitted, and should be labelled as Super Ring and follow TopCat rules.

    3. Permission is required to host duplicate (2 or more per day, under the same name) shows.
    4. Fun-show protocols are to be uploaded to "Documents" section.
    5. Fun-shows participation and awards only grant points on TopCat enabled shows.
    6. TopCat requires a special permission to host Fun Shows on National shows. Please, direct your requests to support@top-cat.org at least 1 month before show date. Fun Shows incur additional hosting fees.
    • The minimum number of participants is 4 or greater
    • The maximum number of participants is equal or below 10

    Point gain depends on the amount of participants, and is explained in Table 7.

    No two competitions, similar or otherwise, with nearly the same set of participants are allowed in one day. TopCat reserves the right to delete all but one of such competitions in a show.
